Trader (electricity/gas)

For our Client, an international and dynamically growing company from the energy sector, we are looking for Candidates for the position of:

Trader (Electricity/Gas)

Location: Warsaw / hybrid work model
For candidates based outside Warsaw, only occasional visits to the office are expected.


Responsibilities:

  • Executing OTC market transactions – establishing cooperation, contracting, executing agreements, and registering transactions in internal systems.

  • Preparing offers and executing transactions on Polish and international exchanges / trading platforms / regulated markets.

  • Managing trading risk – operating within assigned credit and transactional limits, ensuring compliance with procedures.

  • Managing hedging positions – agreeing on parameters, verifying data, closing positions on the wholesale market, and entering data into appropriate records.

  • Fulfilling statutory obligations related to traded financial instruments.

  • Post-trade support and reporting – preparing transaction summaries, initiating invoicing, and confirming purchases.

  • Market data analysis – gathering relevant data, preparing reports and analyses to support trading decisions.


Requirements:

Education

  • Higher education – preferably in economics, finance, mathematics, or energy.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in sales or wholesale trading, preferably:

    • in trading gas, electricity, or other commodities

    • in a similar position

  • Candidates with strong theoretical knowledge may be considered for onboarding and training.

Market knowledge

  • Strong understanding of:

    • gas and electricity market specifics

    • trading instruments (e.g. futures, OTC contracts)

    • industry and legal regulations (e.g. EFET)

Practical and technical skills

  • Proficiency in Excel and other analytical tools

  • Knowledge of:

    • sales and negotiation techniques

    • client relationship management

    • risk management

    • financial and commodity markets

    • economic and legal fundamentals

    • transaction and recording systems (e.g. TT), wholesale trading systems, and exchange trading regulations

Foreign languages

  • English – minimum B2 level (used daily, including foreign systems/tools)

Certifications and licenses

  • Category B driving license

Soft skills

  • Goal orientation, stress resilience, and the ability to make quick decisions
